About This Tool
Symbol Copy & Paste provides a comprehensive, searchable collection of special characters, Unicode symbols, and emoji organized by category — arrows, math operators, currency signs, accented letters, dingbats, emoji, and more. Click any symbol to instantly copy it to your clipboard. Invaluable for writers, designers, social media managers, and anyone who needs special characters without memorizing alt codes or Unicode values.
How It Works
Unicode is the universal character encoding standard that assigns a unique code point (U+0000 to U+10FFFF) to every character in every writing system. This tool curates symbols from several Unicode blocks: Basic Latin (U+0020-007F), Latin-1 Supplement (U+0080-00FF), General Punctuation (U+2000-206F), Mathematical Operators (U+2200-22FF), Arrows (U+2190-21FF), Currency Symbols (U+20A0-20CF), Dingbats (U+2700-27BF), and Emoticons/Emoji (U+1F600-1F64F and beyond).
When you click a symbol, the tool uses the Clipboard API (`navigator.clipboard.writeText()`) to copy the character to your system clipboard. The search function performs a fuzzy match against each symbol's Unicode name, category, and common aliases — so searching "arrow right" will find →, ⇒, ➡, and related variants. Symbols are rendered using your system's installed fonts; if a font doesn't contain a particular glyph, the browser falls back to system emoji fonts or displays a placeholder. The tool categorizes over 2,000 commonly used symbols for quick browsing without needing to know any code points.
